Kitchen Chef of The Westin Leipzig awarded Chef of the Year 2016
Gourmet Guide “Gault Millau” awards Peter Maria Schnurr from Gourmet-Restaurant Falco
At the start of November The Westin Hotel Leipzig rejoiced upon hearing the news that the well-known Gourmet Guide “Gault Millau” had awarded the kitchen chef Peter Maria Schnurr as Chef of the Year 2016. Peter Maria Schnurr was awarded as “Chef of the Year” by the Gault-Millau Chief Editor Patricia Bröhm at the newly renovated Schlosshotel Monrepos. Schnurr cooks at the Leipzig Gourmet-Restaurant Falco and gained a total of 19 out of 20 points.
Bröhm explains: “A chef full of youthful energy with a brave, independent style. His complex meals are full of expressive aromas and astounding product combinations, which merge perfectly on the palate.”
Schnurr sees the title as a “acknowledgement of 26 years of commitment to his guests”. At the same time he stresses that the “Gault&Millau” award is the result of the effort of his 22-person teams. Schnurr has big plans for the future of the Restaurant FALCO in Leipzig. When he won the second Michelin-Star in 2008 he called it the “European League”. Three stars he called the “World League”. “We surely haven’t left the World League. Now it is up to others to put our achievement into words”, says 46-year old confidently.
The new Gault Millau
In the new “Gault Millau” 923 Restaurants are reviewed. Out of these 748 of them gained enough points to achieve the rating logo, at least one of four “chef’s hats”. According to the Gourmet Guide, 33 testers anonymously visited these restaurants.
The team of The Westin Leipzig and the EVENT Hotel Group are thrilled with the award and congratulates the entire FALCO-Team.
